Good programmers borrow, great programmers steal. I'm just aspiring to
greatness. :-)
And, yes, modules, service programs, open source (open source RPG!!) ILE
are the future direction of our System i community. Not in a jump on
the bandwagon way, but in a continuous improvement, this is the best
direction way. That alone is a huge argument for heading toward ILE.
The baby-steps approach is another.

I can't steal, er, use
ILE modules and service programs from outside if I don't use ILE.
It's not stealing if you're taking something that's freely available.
Thinking that using outside code is somehow not as good as building your
own is, I believe, also known as NIH syndrome. I know it's hard to let
go of this, but if the i5 community wants to survive, I think it needs
to get over that hurdle.
