I know it means having the XML parser but the best way to send anything now days is in XML. The data can be validated and no worries about where something is in a fixed format or where you have the separator in the data or a thousand other problems. I wrote a wrapper for Scott's EXPAT XML port and I need to get that out. Scott has examples of using his EXPAT XML parser at http://www.scottklement.com/expat/.
