I don't know all of the details, but the "turning the light on/off" is what reminded me. Because basically the pgm he put on my PC was a "listener;" he had the "transmitter" on his PC. Since we were obviously on the same network, he would just send a "command" to my PC. The "listener" heard the command and obeyed. The "listener" was one of those TSR programs (terminate and stay resident) which had to be started on my PC every time I booted. Which was where the win.ini file came in; it loaded the program ("listener") on startup and just lurked in the background.


He's probably working for either the mob or Barnum & Bailey now.

That reminds me of the Windows programmer that put a program on my PC so

that he could remotely open and close the CD drawer on my PC. Freaked me out, man! If he had used the registry to load it on start up, I never would have found it (not being a gear head), but he used the win.ini file.
