If I want red-haired girls that live in NYC I will start testing/filtering
on red hair, then NYC, then girls.
<Homer Simpson voice> Mmmmm, red-haired girls....
While I'm not fond of nested if's, I don't mind using LEAVE if needed. I
do however, vehemently dislike the idea of a loop being conditioned by a
fake conditioner. Why not use a for loop instead?
for i = 1 to 3;
select;
when i = 3;
chain (key1, key2, key3) filename;
if %found (filename);
do something;
leave;
endif;
when i = 2;
chain (key1, key2) filename;
if %found (filename);
do something;
leave;
endif;
when i = 1;
chain (key1) filename;
if %found (filename);
do something;
leave;
endif;
endsl;
i++;
endfor;
