I agree with you about the LEAVE command, Randy. I don't see that as following the 'rules' of structured coding. The other construct I don't agree with is the INZSR subroutine. This is a solution to a problem that no longer exists. The problem it fixes goes back to pure cycle programming, and the situation is the times when you need to do some processing _BEFORE_ the first record is read. It must have stayed in the problem queue at IBM long enough to finally bubble to the top of the TO DO list. What we have now is a executable code that can be hidden anywhere in the program, but is never explicitly called. That is NOT structured, documented code.
