@ Tommy and Nick, Thanks ;) ... And I have to admit I never bought any book about SQL nor did I get any education, I learned all from the iSeries Information Center, redbooks and articles IBM published online. The guys in Rochester, like Kent Milligan, Mike Caine, Hernando Bedoya, Dan Cruikshank, Jarek Miszczyk and much others, did and still do a very good job. @ Sheri Here are some links: iSeries Innovation Center Database http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r4/index.jsp?topic=/rzatc /rzatcprintable.htm Redbooks http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/cgi-bin/searchsite.cgi?query=Hernando+Or+Jarek&S earchOrder=1 DB2 For System i5/OS - Articles and White Papers http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/eserver/iseries/db2/awp.html All you need to know is available. The rest is learning by doing. Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best regards Birgitta Hauser "Shoot for the moon, even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." Roger, Always refer someone to the store that helps this list ;-) http://store.midrange.com/details.php?ASIN=1882419707 I have the book and like it. I have a coworker who has done some wonderful things with SQL. He claims to have learned it all via IBM manuals. At this link: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r4/topic/rzahg/rzahgd b.htm I use the SQL Reference the most. However, in the section "Who should read this" it says: This manual is a reference rather than a tutorial. It assumes you are already familiar with SQL programming. This manual also assumes that you will be writing applications solely for the iSeries server. If you need more information about using SQL statements, statement syntax, and parameters, see the SQL Programming book. So you may want to start out with that from the above link. When it comes time to performance tune it these are highly recommended: http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l/200612/msg00230.html Rob Berendt
