Tokenizer. Harrumph. Is that anything like a scanner?

I've missed most of this thread, but I can say that I've written 2 recursive-descent parsers in ILE RPG. Both of them call scanners written in C (for speed of execution, and for easier access to IFS STMFs). One of them runs as a trigger program.

What is the point of ILE, anyway, if you aren't writing mixed-language programs, that bring the strengths of each language to bear?
