We have warning windows that pop up on some date fields if they enter a
date that is 6 or however many months in excess in either direction.  An
alternative to hardcoding dates.

The date is valid.  Perhaps you should also code a reasonableness
test... greater than 19991231 and less than 20501231 or some closer
dates depending upon your application criteria.
