Why doesn't this trigger an invalid date






Given the following statement 

C     *ISO          Test(DE)                RBRDDTE 
C                      If             %ERROR 

Where RBRDDTE = 02001213 
Why does this date not get identified as an error? 

This date got keyed in error it should have been 20001213
