Yes, that is what I'm trying to avoid. To do that I'll have to do
below:

D piAI8350IDS likeds(AI8350IDS)
D piAI8350ODS likeds(AI8350ODS)

D AI8350RP pi
D epiIDS likeds(AI8350IDS)

D epiODS likeds(AI8350ODS)

If you move the dummy definitions and your prototype into a /COPY file,
it won't seem so bad. Then the other programs that will call this
program can use your prototype without having to define their own dummy
data structures to match the prototype.

--- Copy file ---
 D AI8350IDS_t E DS based(template) qualified
 D AI8350ODS_t E DS based(template) qualified

 D AI8350RP pr
 D piAI8350IDS likeds(AI8350IDS_t)
 D piAI8350ODS likeds(AI8350ODS_t)

--- Program ---
  /copy AI8350RP
 D AI8350RP pi
 D epiIDS likeds(AI8350IDS_t)
 D epiODS likeds(AI8350ODS_t)
