SELEC came along in the very early 80's when ASNA generated RPG 2 1/2 as we
called it. That's when indexs was also added. 2.1 came later when IBM
finally got off their kisters and realized that the independent world was
going to pass them by. If you want to see evidence of this look at the add
on code that was associated with DMAS, CMAS and MAPICS.

It was released in V2R1.  The GA date for V2R1 was May 24, 1991
