If you like the SPDMNY command, you could go with IBM's WebSphere Information Integrator. Articles include

It can combine data from multiple sources - including but not limited to iSeries. I am assuming that if you are connecting to iSeries only, you do not need the modules for things like SQL Server - connecting to iSeries should be in the product using DRDA, not ODBC.
