Find the Distributed Database Programming manual in the Database 
section of InfoCenter - Appendix A has a simple example of connecting 
to 2 different systems - the local RDB and a remote one. The same 
principles apply. The functions are those related to connections. If 
you use distributed unit of work kind of connections, you can be 
connected to several systems - but each statement has to be processed 
by a single system. This information is all in the above-mentioned manual.

If you like the SPDMNY command, you could go with IBM's WebSphere 
Information Integrator. Articles include

This product runs on a PC and looks like a single DRDA database. It 
can combine data from multiple sources - including but not limited to 
iSeries. I am assuming that if you are connecting to iSeries only, 
you do not need the modules for things like SQL Server - connecting 
to iSeries should be in the product using DRDA, not ODBC.
