I did a demo of WebSmart and was impressed. I'm not a big fan of code
generators but after like 10 minutes I could construct full subfile type pages
in 5 minutes or less (of course they were simplistic). But if I had to
purchase a web enabling tool that's what I would use. The RPG created was more
readable than lots of code generator stuff I've seen in the past....

Thanks,
Tommy Holden

Chris, can you elaborate on the security issues you mentioned?

Much appreciated,
Phil

We are using BCD's WebSmart. It seems pretty user friendly but you have to
change the way you program to a certain extent. I like it much better than
websphere. We looked at PHP but my boss had some security issues.

What about PHP ? This is now available on the Iseries at no cost. Has
anyone tinkered w/ it yet?

Hi,

I think the easiest, fastest and cheapest way to get a Web-GUI for an old
green screen application is to use IBM's Web

To all:

Systems Plus is a small ISV with a 10 year old RPG package for
manufacturers.

Some of the package's programs are truly batch - they have no user
interface.

Others are heavily user interface oriented - gather inquiry parameters,
process the inquiry, present the results and offer a printing option.

It is now time to redo the user interface so it is compatible with web
browsers rather than terminal emulators such as Client Access.

Our objective is to support the client(PC)/Server(AS400) environment,
moving
the entire presentation segment of the application out to the PCs.

We'd be interested in hearing about the tools you've used to accomplish
this
objective in the past and what you'd do differently if you had to do it
over
again.
