If I don't get a data queue entry I don't know the data length ... but I can use operational descriptor to figure that out.
Unfortunately, since I only have V5R1 available to me right now, I can't use CEEDOD to get the length of the data queue. I'll have to pass the length of the data queue with the data queue itself. Not perfect, but acceptable. Thanks! david
