All good points, and all helpful. I guess my style question was about
embedded SQL. It's a pain to work with in WSDc, the temporary event file
(green screen or WDSc) is a drag, and the fixed format in V5R3 and earlier
is a PITA also.

Since the _only_ SQL I've done on anything but an AS/400 (or successor) in the past 20 years has been via ODBC or similar, does anybody have comments on what "embedded SQL" would be like elsewhere? ODBC I've done was more like SQL CLI which is handled fine in WDSC of course. Last time I did anything remotely resembling "embedded SQL" elsewhere, there wasn't much more than a glimmer of a possibility of a decent IDE that might be available eventually.

What's available for comparison?
