yes, but movea will work like the following

char10 is a 10-char alpha field
movea     *in(1)        char10

will put the values of the first 10 elements of the *in array into the single variable char10 - that is what i hoped %subarr would do.

I guess the help says that because it can handle this aspect of MOVEA,
as long as ARR1 and ARR2 have same-sized elements:
   C    MOVEA   ARR1(50)     ARR2(75)

   %SUBARR(ARR2 : 75) = %SUBARR(ARR1 : 50);
