Donna, you must have some non-numeric data in your FIELD2. I tested the statement with several variations of numbers and spaces and it worked fine. run the statement with just a select instead of an update and double check the data in your file. I keep getting above error though I checked spelling of field in CAST
several times, spelling is perfect.
