A fairly easy way to handle this is to do the processing in ucs2. Thanks again for this, Barbara. It seems to have gotten me one step further. The only issue I'm having now is it seems the sI and sO characters are either getting replaced or not transferred properly, but I need to find out where that is happening. It seems to be happening in the WRITE to the stream file. Brad www.bvstools.com
