Brian, There is no need for the trigger program to determine which program is creating the error. The trigger program would use the QMHSNDPM API to send an *ESCAPE message. Ideally but not necessarily a user-defined message in a message file. It will bubble up. The program that created the I/O will have to have logic to handle the exception. Logic that will test for an error and perform the appropriate steps should an error occur. Hope this helps. Glenn Gundermann ggundermann@xxxxxx
I'm trying to write a before-insert trigger program that validates the values of fields and tries to prevent people from inserting junk. I'm unclear on what to do if the record they're trying to add contains invalid data. I need to determine the program that caused the trigger and send it a message? I think I know how to find the offending program, but what kind of message do I send it?
