Using the iSeries Navigator, I can see this other database listed when I
expand the icon for Databases. One database is named the same as the
system. The other has a user defined name. The libraries associated with
this database are all created assigned to a separate ASP device. I see
that I can retrieve this information from job attributes. I can check to
see if the ASP information is different than *NONE and hope to use the
CONNECT TO.

Thanks for the reply and interest.

Nick

If that database is on the same system it will not work, as the database
is
the name of the system.

Perhaps if on another LPAR.

So, what do you mean with "database"? A library? That is called a
collection in AS/400 SQL.

I am working on an application where I would like to be able to use the

My question is this. If the user job is already pointing at this
database,
do I need to use CONNECT TO :database USER:userprf USING :userpassword or
just CONNECT TO :database?
