Can be done with 5250. WDSC just does all the STRSRVJOB, etc, for you. What SEP's do in 5250 is pop up a message on the session that did the STRDBG as to which job to now debug and where it is. Still useful, but not as nice as WDSC. http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r4/topic/rbam6/dbpgm.htm
From one 5250 session:
STRDBG PGM(ROB/AA) UPDPROD(*YES) SBREAK lineNumber user ROB or SBREAK 19 user ROB
From other 5250 session:
CALL ROB/AA
From first 5250 session:
CPI1903 - Service Entry Point has stopped at line 2 in program ROB/AA in job 016937/ROB/ROBS2. Recovery . . . : This program must be debugged from a servicing job. Do a Start Service Job (STRSRVJOB JOB(016937/ROB/ROBS2)). Then do Start Debug (STRDBG) on the spawned job from where the STRSRVJOB was done. Set a local breakpoint at or after the Service Entry Point. Return to the original job and press enter to release the spawned job. Rob Berendt
