RE: %mseconds BIF

Have you tried using the BIF on a field defined as type "Z" (timestamp)?
Anotehr way I have successfully used is the following:

    Msec = %subdt( timestampfield : *MSECONDS);

Again, timestampfield is a field of type Z. IIRC, it didn't work with date
field or time fields, only timestamps.

Below,  I guess I do not follow how a duration BIF is supposed to work.
