I assume you are using SQLRPGLE or RPGLE and the SQL CLI API? I've used
SQLColAttributes function (part of SQL CLI) to get the attributes of a
column (field). You would first have to execute a select statement to
generate a result set.
Not entirely sure this is what you are looking for though.
