As the OP said, maybe this is getting off of RPG and the original question? (Although the subject line is kinda evolving.) But as far as California Software and the ilk go I don't think they'd offer a reasonable solution. Let's face it, if all I was writing was S/34 code that used simply 5250 screens and no api's and none of the i5 unique stuff in CL, etc, then I might be able to get by with something like a emulator. California Software wasn't the only player in the field. I remember something that could do the simple stuff and you could use dBase to define your files and use dBase to query them, etc. But even on the S/36 I was running into limitations when I'd try to call certain api's or whatever. And who's to say that multiplying a date by 10000.01 to convert it would work the same? Not that it's a good technique, but just a sample of what kind of testing, etc you'd have to go through. What would a CL program do that did a GRTOBJAUT? Rob Berendt
