Our DSL was down a majority of the day yesterday, so I couldn't reply on a timely basis. I see now where it would be considered dynamic SQL instead of static, because I was building the SQL statement in a variable. I tried parameter markers, but that didn't work either. I assumed it was because the one variable I was inserting (autsel) was defined as 500 chars with a lot of blanks at the end. I tried a VARYING length field to no avail. I thought about trying to find out if VARYING fields were allowed as parameter markers, but since the DSL was out, I was screwed. Since I really wanted to get it done, I finally strung it all together like you suggested and it worked. Thanks for the help.
