You are absolutely correct.  I missed that I did in fact TRIM the blanks in
the SQL statement off the host variable.  Thanks again for you input...


The reason for the TRIM was because if the USER entered   'GIBSON%
', the SQL statement expected there to be '           ' at the end of the
field. Which wouldn't select 'GIBSON-SMITH      ' but would select any
GIBSON and/or GIBSONS.

If I didn't clear that up, it's okay, I have my answer.

So I wasn't crazy, the SQL statement work before but that was before I
added the TRIM statement.
