Ummm... Is this your process you are creating new? Maybe I'm missing something... but why can't you pass the dir string to the procedure as a parameter instead of doing a like and inz to dir. Circular refence is a common error found in Excel. You would get that error when you tried to sum an array of cells but you accidently included the cell that has the SUM function. I've never seen this error message in RPG before, so I am far from the expert (which is always the case), but it sounds similar to what I've seen in Excel. Maybe someone can answer again why you "shouldn't" define the parameter as (*VARSIZE). Or at the very least, look in the archives as to the pros and cons of doing it.
