What happens is this... When you write a format, it gets "buffered" until an EXFMT or READ is executed on that format OR another format using overlay. When you EXFMT again, it writes the "buffered" information to the screen, so after the first exfmt you don't HAVE the command screen "buffered" for output onto the next screen... Hope that helps...I'm not that good at explaining things LOL Thanks, Tommy Holden -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mackie, Roger L. Mike, I blush to admit that when this happens to me, it's because I have forgotten to write the record with the Fkey labels. It is also possible that if the subfile record is long enough, it could over write the footer/label record even if it has OVERLAY keyword specified. I've never encountered more sophisticated reasons, but if this doesn't help, perhaps someone else has. So here is what is happening. When I initally call the program, a screen comes up with a subfile that the user has to select a line on. The function keys show up great on this screen and everything works good. After they make that selection, another screen with another subfile shows up. Problem is that the function keys don't show up on this screen or on the prompt window (yet another subfile). All of the function key records have the OVRLAY keyword specified.
