3) Limits file processing, which allows 1 or more ranges of records (from /
to a key) to be selected.  This option has some nice advantages (e.g.
implementing unlimited number of ranges without changing the program to
handle lists, very easy to code - change 1 line of code and add 2 lines),
and a few caveats.
