Maybe I'm confused. Right, the spoolfile needs to be usropn.

However, if he is using QCMDEXC.

Wouldn't all he need is ...

QCMDEXC('OVRPRTF SPOOLFILE SAVE(*YES) OUTQ(PRT1)');
Open Spoolfile;

....  Build spool file.

Close Spoolfile;

... Wait for spoolfile to enter SAV status.
QCMDEXC('CHGSPLF ....  OUTQ(PRT2)');
QCMDEXC('RLSSPLF .... ');

... Wait for spoolfile to enter SAV status again
QCMDEXC('CHGSPLF ....  OUTQ(PRT1)');

I thought he was wanting to physical print the spool file again. Not build
the spoolfile again. Correct?  Wrong?

I prefer SYSTEM() but only because I don't have to tell how many
characters.

USROPN, right?
     FMYPRINT   O    E             PRINTER USROPN
Then you OVRPRTF, Open it. print to it, close it, DLTOVR, OVRPRTF, open
it, print to it, close it, DLTOVR, repeat as necessary.
If you are using USROPN and are still having issues then perhaps it is
your OVRPRTF

Override scope . . . . . . . . .   *ACTGRPDFN    *ACTGRPDFN, *CALLLVL,
*JOB
is the default.

Someone here prefers system() over qcmdexc. Claims that system() stays in
the same activation group. Don't know if that is true or not.

Change printer

Does anyone know how to change the actual printer during program
execution? I want to print a file to PRT1 and then print the same file
to PRT2 then change back to PRT1. I tried using QCMDEXC with CHGPRTF but
I'm either using the wrong command or the wrong option ( I am changing
DEV() ). The program compiles and executes alright but all copies are
sent to the same printer. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can
provide.
