In RPGLE you can the following: C $WRK1 CAT $SAVIT:1 PS@D50 This puts 1 space between the two values. Or to not have any and put them right next to each do this: C $WRK1 CAT $SAVIT:0 PS@D50 I hope this helps. Palme Sent: Thursday, June 01, 2006 12:23 To: RPG Group Subject: Concatenate two strings spacing issue I know that I can easil concatenate two strings with the CAT function, however is there a way to eliminate any excess spacing? In this particular case I have two strings which are 50 and 10 char in length respectively.....I am concatenating the 10 char to the end of the 50 but there are times where the 50 char string does not have anywhere close to 50 and I'd like to strip out those spaces if possible. I have tried using the trimR and TRIML functions but that did not seem to help..... Suggestions? If you bought it, it was hauled by a truck - somewhere, sometime. -- This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
