Retrieve email address for Userprofile via API ? -- RPG400-L

Hello,

Via DSPDIRE to an outfile I'm able to retrieve the email address of a 
certain user.

I prefer to use an API to retrieve it.
Does anyone og you know which API, and how to use it ?
