Charles, I too had pointer phobia at first. I first started using them with the list api's. There is an api to retrieve data from a user space (QUSRTVUS) that I used to use. But since I've seen the logic used when using QUSPTRUS I'd never go back to QUSRTVUS. Well, I suppose if you could convince a majority of programmers that it would be a good thing if IBM dropped the + sign as an operator and also dropped the ADD op code and replaced it with an api in which you passed 4 parameters: (factor1, factor2, result, error data structure); then maybe I'd relook at QUSRTVUS. I think this logic has even convinced some of the programmers here that are a little long in the tooth to switch over to QUSPTRUS. Rob Berendt
