Hi,

this is not a problem of embedded SQL or a bug.
It's the normal behaviour like the RPG compiler handels numeric fields.

Zoned (data type S) and binary (data type B) stand alone fields get
converted into packed fields.
They were even converted if use the LIKE keyword in the D-Specs or *LIKE
DEFINE in the C-Specs.

If those fields are defined or used as data structure subfields they get not
converted.
The data structures can be defined internally or externally.

If fields are defined somewhere else, i.e. in files in the F-Specs and put
into datastructures without specifying a data type, packed numeric fields
get coverted into zoned.

Integer fields (data types I and U) get not converted into packed fields,
even if they are defined as stand alone.

Mit freundlichen Gru?en / Best regards

Betreff: SQL Issue

Have any of you Embedded SQL people ever run into this issue. I can
define in the D specs a variable we will call counter as 3p 0 and
counter1 as 3s 0.
When I compile the programs the xref shows both fields as 3, 0 Packed.
Both fields are stand alone. If I create a data structure and define
them within it the fields come out as defined.

Any thoughts on this problem?

I am on V5R3 Cume 6045
