I have 20+ years of working in RPG, S/360, S/34, AS/400(iSeries). I
dabbled in C and C++ for a couple of years around '95 and took a couple
of VB6 courses two years ago. The C and C++ languages were the most
difficult by far but I think it made the VB easier because I had already
been exposed to the concepts. Both C and VB made the ILE easier because
I could relate the ILE concepts to what I learned in C and VB. I
suppose it would also work the opposite direction although RPG isn't as
strict about the modular concepts as VB so it's easier to write
non-modular code. I think other languages do a better job of pushing
the developer into modular coding.
