Thanks Michael (and everyone else) I came to the same conclusion, so I
jumped through a few DS hoops, and I used an API. Oh well, it works!
D DS
D Today D Inz(*Sys) DatFmt(*ISO)
D YYYY 4 Overlay(Today)
D MM 2 Overlay(Today: 6)
D DD 2 Overlay(Today: 9)
D AlphaToInt PR 10I 0 ExtProc('atoi')
D String * Options(*string) Value
/Free
ChUdat = AlphaToInt(YYYY + MM + DD);
/End-Free
