Green screen and yes the data is in the same place everytime and it needs to be automatic. -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Shannon ODonnell Sent: Friday, April 14, 2006 5:41 PM To: 'RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries' Subject: RE: Capturing screen data from secondary program Does the program run on the green-screen or on the PC that has the data you are interested in? Is the data in the same place every time? Are you wanting to capture the data while a user is looking at the screen? Can the user do the capture every time manually or does this need to be automatic? -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces+sodonnell=irish-studios.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces+sodonnell=irish-studios.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Douglas W. Palme Sent: Friday, April 14, 2006 3:45 PM To: RPG Group Subject: Capturing screen data from secondary program If we have a menu option that allows a user to run a program and that program displays a code on the screen, is there a way for us to capture that code without having access to the actual program running? here is the issue, one of our financial companies is Comdata which has provided us with a copy of their software which will generate an express code for a monetary advance which we will give to our drivers. This express code (comcheck code) is displayed on the screen. we need to capture this and write it to our payroll files so we can ensure that the driver has the amount deducted from their paycheck. Since we do not have access to the underlying code, we cannot modify it to write out the information, and I am hoping that there is a way for us to capture it from the screen. Suggestions, comments, or just tell me I'm nuts. If you bought it, it was hauled by a truck - somewhere, sometime. -- This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
