If you can spare a minute, could you please explain why this is a Midrange-L question, so I'll understand for the future. Tbanks ! Can anyone >explain why this logical keyed by 'Consol#' does not read in RRN order? >THANKS ! This question belongs in the MIDRANGE-L list. If you have any followup questions please post them there. If you don't specify it, that means you don't care about the order beyond the listed key field(s). If this logical file can share an access path and that access path has additional key fields, this logical file will be ordered according to the way that that logical file is ordered. If you want to ensure that the records are in RRN order after the key field(s), you need to say so by using the FIFO keyword in the DDS for the logical file. Note that if you use this keyword, the physical file(s) cannot reuse deleted records.
