Okay, I think that might be your issue. Even though the DS is externally described, all the numeric fields subfields therein will be defined as zoned in the program, regardless of how they are defined in the file. If your function expects a packed field, it will be disappointed. If the packed parameters are not changed in the function, add CONST to them on the prototype.
