James,

Do any of the programs have the *DTAARA defined with UDS? That
designation automatically locks the data area upon opening and updates it
upon close.

Subject: Weird *DTAARA lock behavior

I've just experienced some strange behavior on a *DTAARA.
It is accessed using IN statements from several programs,
running in a server job, but never using the *LOCK option.
Yet the job just locked up with a lock failure, because of
an *EXCLRD lock held by the same job. Anybody ever seen
anything like this?
