Three questions in one: 1 - Can imbedded SQL use CALL and process result sets? No, but you can use the SQL Call Level Interface, or CLI. I think the Sorcerer's Redbook has some examples. From the V5R4 manual: Result sets from procedures: Result sets are only returned when a procedure is directly called or a nested RETURN TO CLIENT procedure is indirectly called from one of the following interfaces: - ODBC, - JDBC, - OLE DB, - .NET, - SQL Call Level Interface, or - iSeries Access Family Optimized SQL API.
