Field Lenth Question

I am in the process of debugging a program and some of my data is getting
chopped off. Come to find out (at least in the debugger), it is showing a
max length of 1024 bytes for an alpha field. I have my variable set to a
length of 2048. Where is the rest of the field? It is doing this to all
three fields I have defined at this length.

We are at V5R3 with the latest CUME.
