Move is a CPYBRA operation. The target is implicitly substring'd with the source length. But also the "P" operation extender may be used. Some lower-level instructions do not always work well when the source and the target overlap in memory. There is a specific instruction memmove() that does just that, and is written to handle the situation where the source and target overlay one another. -Bob Cozzi www.RPGxTools.com RPG xTools - Enjoy programming again. -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of rob@xxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, January 17, 2006 9:22 AM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: RE: Overlapping subfields with a MOVE Hey Eric, It took me awhile to discipline myself to read all replies before replying to an email.
