First Rob, my book has nothing to do with this. Although I am working on an edition of my book ("The Modern RPG IV Language" thanks for the plug <g>) that will have the new V5R4 stuff in it, think about it? I will sell a new copy to people that already own it, in addition to all the new copies I sell. Why would I _not_ want IBM to enhance RPG IV with respect to book sales? Whether that enhancement works on V5R17 or V5R1 doesn't matter with respect to my book--perhaps you're just grasping at straws. But anyway I've already made my money from that book, so I don't even track the sales of it any longer. FYI, its at its all time LOW in sales this last 6 months or so, and yet it still generates over $5,000 to $10,000 a month in revenue. I don't know anyone that believes in IBM anymore, do you? You don't think that IBM supporting their current release instead of saying "Here's a carrot, but don't eat it until you move to V5Rxxx." Is helpful for people believing in IBM? I think not, but we can agree to disagree on this point. -Bob Cozzi www.RPGxTools.com RPG xTools - Enjoy programming again. -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of rob@xxxxxxxxx Sent: Wednesday, January 04, 2006 7:06 AM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: RE: free-format move *USA date value to 6-digit numeric in YMDformat And that outcome is ...people getting more excited about it and using the new features and believing that IBM is listening to them and coming out with their requests while those who write books are getting their books obsoleted every 1 to 2 years.
