Hi Steve,

A few tips about using this mailing list:

a) Don't reply to unrelated messages in order to continue a previous conversation. E-mail and news readers that do "threading" will make your message look like it's part of the thread that you reply to.

b) Don't change the subject of your messages when you're continuing a previous conversation. Change it only when changing to a different conversation. This makes it easy to group all of your messages together and read the whole conversation at once.

For an example of what I'm talking about, look at the Midrange.com archives for this month:
  http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l/200512/threads.html

Notice the way that the messages that are related to each other are usually grouped together? With replies indented under the message they reply to? That makes it easy to read and follow.

Then, look at your discussion about subfiles. It's all over the place. Think about what it might be like to come back a year from now and try to review that subfile discussion. Unless you happen to remember the exact subjects of every message you posted, it'd be very difficult to track down all of the posts relating to that discussion.

Please understand that I'm not saying this to criticize you, but rather as a friendly tip. There's a lot of valuable content in your thread -- if you make it easy to read, it can help a lot of people.
