First let me extend a warm holiday thanks to everyone on the list, from Bob Cozzi, to Scott Klement and all the rest of you; I have learned far more in the past year than I could have possibly imagined. I know at times that I have asked some stupid questions and a few of you have even told me so :) However, I am far better at what I do because of this list and each of you have contributed more than your fair share. May all of you have a happy and joyous holiday season, whether you are celebrating Christmas, Chanukah, or the myriad of other celebrations that occur at this time of year. Now, onto my question. I have several programs that create temp files for purposes of migrating and mining data. Although I do not see it happening very often, there is the possiblity that two users could inavertently run into each other. Is there an easy way for me to do the following: 1. Determine if there is a record lock currently applied to a file and if so, who has that lock. 2. Lock a file so that nobody else can make changes to it while the program (s) is running. I have not worked with file locks to this point so any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Douglas If you bought it, it was hauled by a truck - somewhere, sometime.
