I tried to whip something like this up.  Did a simple CMD and a simple 
RPGLE.  Had a tough time getting the right date to appear
PARM KWD(indate) TYPE(*DATE) CHOICE('Your choice') PROMPT('Enter date')
DSPLY  1051212R I
So I tried
      D FinalDate       s               d   datfmt(*cymd)
RNF0617E Date format *JOBRUN, *CYMD, *CMDY, *CDMY or *LONGJUL is not 
allowed with DATFMT keyword.
