_The_ key to passing dates is to prototype the calls and _always_ specify 
the expected date format.  Never ever allow a date parm to default.  You 
never know what it will end up being.

If you can (i.e. the parm is Read-only) then also specify CONST, that way 
the compiler will fix any mis-match for you.
