Just think though, if we hadn't had RPG II then there would never have been
RPG III, RPG/400 or RPG IV and we would all have probably ended up sticking
with COBOL.

I cut my teeth on RPG II and can remember all the arguments between whether
display programming should use the cycle or not and had to move from
programming in COBOL to RPG II with the cycle.

Although most programs I've written since around 1989 have avoided the cycle
I still think it has it's uses and should remain an integral part of RPG for
the benefit of future programmers...
