could he use ( ) + ( ) ?  Could he have, say, 15 fields inside one swet of
parens, and the rest insie another set of parens, and have the parens
connected with a plus?

In addition to Charles Wilt recommendation, my approach was to either:
 
a) Load all those individual values into an array an then XFOOT, or
b) Use the ADD operation.
